MODUS OPERANDI:
Mr. Bewsher purports to be a tour guide, booking exclusive locations and destinations.
According to his resume, he will make the booking, accompany the customer, and help the client to set up camp.
He will then volunteer to fetch firewood and leave, never to be seen or heard of again.
He has been making bookings, collecting payments, and cancelling tours and vacations at the very last minute.
When the customer requests a refund, Mr. Bewsher refers to a “no refund” clause with a year’s guarantee of a new booking or “your money back”.
SUCCESSFUL ARREST:
A client contacted SSS after reading our previous two projects on Facebook.
She alleged that Mr. Taun Bewsher defrauded her of R8,235.00.
She reported the case to the Pinelands Police under case number 80/3/2025.
The investigating officer, Constable T. Nazier, was contacted, and relevant information, including an address in Somerset West, was provided.
As a result, the suspect was arrested at his home on 24 March 2025.
A second client also contacted SSS, confirming that Mr. Taun Bewsher had defrauded him in October 2024.
He had reported the case to the Stellenbosch SAPS under case number 596/10/2024, with Warrant Officer P.J. McGear as the investigating officer.
W/O McGear was informed of the Pinelands case.
Mr. Taun Bewsher is scheduled to appear in Goodwood Magistrate's Court, Court A, on 26 March 2025.
SSS commends the outstanding and immediate action taken by the SAPS investigating officers.
