TikTok has increased substantially in popularity in the past two years and has become the go-to platform for content creators. One can scroll through the TikTok video feed and find almost anything in video form. Content creators turned to the platform because of its popularity and the gifting "monetisation" options that have been made available.
Most serious content creators put in the effort to create informative and entertaining content that adds value to the lives of the viewers who consume their content.
There is another side to TikTok, often called TikTok drama, and more specifically, the "Afrikaans Live TikTok drama" category. If you scroll through the content of this category, you are presented with a side of human behaviour that may be mildly entertaining. This genre quickly turns unexpectedly toxic – being neither humorous nor amusing – these posts are concerning and dangerous and should not be available for public consumption.
Concerned members of the public have contacted Specialised Security Services in this regard. An investigation was requested into an individual who has been trending on TikTok for all the wrong reasons over the past few months.
THE SELF-PROCLAIMED CEO OF TIKTOK, MR JAKOBUS JOHANNES JANSEN VAN RENSBURG IS ALSO KNOWN AS "KING BINLAKEN":
Mr Jansen van Rensburg has garnered a large following on TikTok.
He primarily entertains his audience with his witty and sarcastic comments during general conversations.
But the modus operandi took a drastic turn in the wrong direction once Mr Jansen van Rensburg accumulated a following and reached what he refers to as "celebrity status".
Mr Jansen van Rensburg initially became inebriated while on TikTok live videos.
During these videos, he makes toxic comments towards other TikTok content creators, often resorting to vulgar outbursts and accusations using defamatory statements.
He is frequently observed drinking alcohol whilst taking anti-depression medication during live video broadcasts.
This toxic behaviour increased to the point where Mr Jansen van Rensburg instigated a verbal attack on another TikTok content creator and harassed the person to the point where she attempted suicide.
Mr Jansen van Rensburg then insisted on his innocence in the matter, claiming that he could not remember his actions as he was intoxicated during these public outbursts.
Mr Jansen van Rensburg has driven several content creators away from the TikTok platform through public character assassinations.
When a person garners fame or sympathy on the TikTok platform, Mr Jansen van Rensburg involves himself in that person's affairs.
He then creates a narrative where the person is depicted as a false character.
By manipulation, he encourages his followers to harass and destroy the person's reputation.
Jealousy and narcissistic tendencies seem to be the driving forces behind this behaviour showcased on TikTok by Mr Jansen van Rensburg.

THE MOST RECENT EVENTS:
A young man contacted Specialised Security Services with claims that Mr Jansen van Rensburg assaulted him during a TikTok-hosted event to which Mr Jansen van Rensburg was initially not invited.
The victim stated, "he basically invited himself because he was forcing us to invite him, and he ended up attending the event".
The young man provided a statement stating that Mr Jansen van Rensburg made unwanted sexual advances towards him.
When he rejected Mr Jansen van Rensburg, he was allegedly assaulted by Mr Jansen van Rensburg.
A criminal assault case was registered on 11 June 2024 with case number CAS 159/6/2024.
During the same event, Mr Jansen van Rensburg allegedly also made sexual advances towards other young men who attended the event; it progressed to the point where one of the men had to physically fend off Mr Jansen van Rensburg.
The young man stated in a public video broadcast:
"He kept coming at me. I told him to stop, that I was not interested in his advances because I am not gay and I don't like men that way, but he would not listen, he kept pushing and pushing to the point where I had to smack his glass out of his hand. He then proceeded to stir trouble amongst a group of men - my brother overheard that he was trying to instigate an assault on me - luckily my brother intervened, and we were able to prevent a possible situation".
After the first victim came forward and told his story, more alleged victims came forward with information that suggests that Mr Jansen van Rensburg has often exhibited this behaviour - dating back a few years.
ALLEGED CARDIAC ARREST:
After the events, Mr Jansen van Rensburg received backlash for his actions; the TikTok community started asking difficult questions about the accusations – to which he did not seem to have answers.
As a result, Mr Jansen van Rensburg was on a live video broadcast on 5 June 2024, where he was once again intoxicated; as the evening progressed, Mr Jansen van Rensburg self-medicated and continued to consume alcohol.
It was later stated that he had gone into cardiac arrest and he had been admitted to hospital, where he received emergency treatment.
During the hospitalisation, a friend organised a fundraiser, stating that R150,000.00 was needed to pay for Mr Jansen van Rensburg's medical expenses and other personal expenses.
The motive behind the fundraiser was questioned when no factual evidence of the expenses was presented, some individuals on TikTok questioned the validity of the hospitalisation.
The fundraiser was withdrawn as a result.
Specialised Security Services learned on 22 June 2024 that Mr Jansen van Rensburg had been discharged from the hospital and posted to TikTok under his account, "King Binlaken", soon after.
Mr Jansen van Rensburg has yet to address the accusations made against him; instead, he is following the same process as with the previous instances when he lost the trust of the TikTok community:
He causes chaos,
Hurts the individuals involved,
Disappears,
Then returns later with a victim's mentality,
Asks for sympathy and understanding until the problem blows over,
And then he sets his aim on a new target,
Just to start the same destructive process all over again.
WARNING:
Specialised Security Services warns the public not to engage in the same online behaviour as
Mr Jansen van Rensburg on TikTok. It is destructive and damaging to both individuals and businesses.
Mr Jansen van Rensburg manipulates and uses social engineering to extort gifts from the public on TikTok.
He often refers to himself as a victim. He offers assistance and advice in legal and civil matters to which he
has no official capacity or intellectual capability.
Teenagers and younger children are on TikTok, and they consume the content published by creators.
They become infatuated with the individuals whom they idolise. This is extremely dangerous as Mr Jansen van Rensburg
and people who behave like him are not good role models for anyone in society.
Do not become involved with Mr Jansen van Rensburg. His past actions and current online behaviour
are sufficient evidence that he is not someone who you should consider trustworthy or morally ethical.
The rule of "Do to others as you want them to do to you" applies when engaging in conversations online;
the same rules apply to TikTok. Do not be misled by people like Mr Jansen van Rensburg. The same laws that apply
offline also apply online, and you can be held accountable under the justice system for your actions and words on TikTok.
