THE CASE:
In November 2022, our client met Kyle Jardine at a supplement store in Randburg.
They became friends and started going to the gym together.
Kyle informed our client that he sells steroids and other supplements.
In May 2023, our client started receiving phone calls from private numbers.
This was a so-called police officer indicating that someone had opened a criminal case against him and Kyle for selling steroids.
Our client had to pay R50,000.00 for the case opened against them to "disappear."
He further alleged that Kyle was in custody and would be released once the money was paid.
Our client paid the money into Kyle's bank account.
A few days later, Kyle contacted our client and said he had been released.
In June 2023, the threats and extortion of our client continued.
The money had to be paid into Kyle's bank account every time.
The extortion continued, and our client was threatened and extorted by the so-called police officer again.
Private numbers were no longer used, and a cell phone number was identified.
The total amount extorted exceeded R600,000.00.
In November 2023, our client contacted Specialised Security Services.
A comprehensive investigation found that the person behind the extortion was Kyle Jardine.
A criminal case was opened at SAPS Sandton, and all necessary proof was handed to the SAPS.
Case: Sandton CAS 367/03/2024 – Fraud / Extortion.
In the meantime, the subject lost his job and moved from his known residence.
The Specialised Security Services investigation team attempted to arrange meetings with Jardine, but he failed to attend.
The investigation continues, and any person with information on Kyle Jardine's whereabouts is requested to contact the investigators.
