Tragic Fishing Trip Ends in Fatal Attack at Tubatse Dam.
6 Suspects Sought.
In a heart-wrenching incident at Tubatse Dam near Steelpoort on 29 December 2024,
what started as a serene family fishing trip turned tragically violent,
leading to the death of 41-year-old Mr. Juan Pieter Grobler from Lydenburg.
On 29 December 2024, at Tubatse Dam near Steelpoort, Limpopo, Mr. Juan Pieter Grobler (41), also known as JP, was fishing with his two young sons and father-in-law.
Six men armed with spears and golf sticks ambushed them.
Mr. Grobler was brutally attacked while sitting in a camping chair in front of his young sons.
Despite being stabbed and hit with the golf sticks, Mr. Grobler managed to retrieve his firearm from his vehicle and fired a shot, causing the attackers to flee.
He drove away with his family but collapsed behind the wheel.
His father-in-law took over and drove to Lanex Village for help.
Mr. Grobler succumbed to his injuries, likely due to internal bleeding.
SSS is working closely with the relevant authorities in
assimilating the necessary information regarding this investigation.
