These scams can take various forms, ranging from fake listings and misrepresented properties to non-existent rentals and phishing schemes. The allure of picturesque destinations combined with the anonymity afforded by online transactions creates an ideal breeding ground for deceptive practices.
It is imperative for travellers to exercise caution, conduct thorough research, and employ robust verification measures to ensure that their dream vacation does not turn into a nightmare of financial loss and disappointment.
Mias Schreuder is one of many holiday scammers operating through a vacation rental advertisement on the Rustenburg Koop en Verkoop's Facebook page.

OUR CLIENT:
In July 2023, our client responded to an advertisement by Mias Schreuder for a vacation rental near Cape Town.
After confirming the details and making a deposit of R9,000,00, they discovered a double booking upon arrival, turning their holiday into a nightmare.
They eventually found alternate accommodation, incurring additional expenses of R16,000.00.
Despite promises of reimbursement, Mias Schreuder has failed to fulfil his commitments.
Frustrated, our clients and others affected, have opened cases with the Laaiplek SAPS, with case numbers ranging from 76/12/2023 to 118/01/2024.
OTHER CASES AGAINST MIAS SCHREUDER:
This incident is part of a concerning trend, with numerous victims falling prey to similar scams orchestrated by Mias Schreuder, since 2023.
Cases have been reported to various SAPS stations, including Postmasburg SAPS (case number: 86/01/2023) and; Laaiplek SAPS (case numbers: 76/12/2023, 114/12/2023, 115/12/2023, 388/12/2023, 13/01/2024, 16/01/2024, 19/01/2024, 99/01/2024, 118/01/2024).
