OUR CASE:
Our client was contacted by an individual claiming to be "Ruan Jacobs," who stated that he had been referred by LHC Moore Voere for business.
The suspect provided a SARS certificate and completed the required documents as requested by our client.
An order for a load of feed to be delivered in Gauteng was placed, with all relevant documents sent via WhatsApp.
The feed was delivered to Vereeniging, but payment was never received.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that "Ruan Jacobs" is a false identity.
The suspect has used various aliases to defraud businesses in the feed and hunting industries.
A case of fraud has been opened: Somerset West CAS 120/08/2024.
