PROJECT: EXTORTION FROM INSIDE SOUTH AFRICAN PRISONS

YOU MAY SHARE THIS PUBLIC DOCUMENT

Specialised Security Services have noted an alarming trend of extortion occurring within South African prisons.

The cases include prisoners and their families who have fallen prey to extreme threats, manipulation and extortion.

It is imperative that everyone becomes aware of this threat and takes necessary precautions to protect themselves.

SSS has elaborated on such instances on several previous occasions. View our Facebook page or website for these projects

MODUS OPERANDI:

  • Upon a new prisoner's admission, the other inmates immediately gather information about them.

  • This can be done through bribing officials or the use of cell phones and laptops.

  • Once they determine the value of the prisoner, they will coerce them to transfer money into various accounts.

  • The prisoners are threatened with physical harm or harm to their families, which the criminals would have researched and on which they would have obtained details.

  • The harm inflicted on prisoners and their families can be severe, ranging from assault to gang rape or murder.

  • Criminals can also transfer the money to overseas accounts, making it extremely difficult to trace the funds.

  • These syndicates operate both inside and outside the prison system and often use private investigators to intimidate the families of the prisoners.

Specialised Security Services is the only reputable organisation that can handle such situations.

Our vast experience and track record in these investigations are unparalleled.

We immediately ensure that all concerned parties are placed in a safe and controlled environment upon receiving the mandate for such a case.

WHEN YOU ARE IMPRISONED:

  • There will always be a person in charge in the cells where you are.

  • Establish who it is without asking too many questions.

  • Never discuss your financial status with anyone in the prison environment.

  • If you feel threatened or intimidated by a prisoner or an official, report it telephonically to your family outside of prison. If in any way possible, report it to Specialised Security Services Mike Bolhuis or ask your family to do so.

  • Feel free to speak to Mr Bolhuis personally.

IF YOU ARE A FAMILY MEMBER OR AN ASSOCIATE OF A PRISONER:

  • Call Mr Bolhuis immediately.

  • Always be honest and state your involvement in the situation.

  • Give a mandate to Mr Bolhuis to proceed with the investigation.

  • Mr Bolhuis will ask you some questions which you must answer in truthfully.

  • After a discussion of the fee structure, the investigation will start immediately.

  • Adhere to all requests by the specialist investigator/task team appointed.
